Operations and maintenance
Keep the inputs needed to rebuild and the private state needed to resume writing. Generated HTML can be reproduced only if its source, assets, configuration, selected runtime and compatible engine remain available. A previous output folder is not a source or account backup.
Choose the task
| Task | Guide |
|---|---|
| Consistent backups and rehearsal | Backup and restore |
| Compatible cutover and return | Upgrades and rollback |
| Fresh staged engine checklist | Update checklist |
| Layer-specific diagnosis | Health and diagnostics |
| Store/file lookup | Storage and formats |
Backups need actual file selection, restricted storage and a tested restore. Upgrades need a selected revision and compatibility review. Health checks need actual state from the failed layer. The update checklist starts with read-only inspection and a separate disposable checkout, not an overlay of the active installation.
Preserve the right state
| State | Concern |
|---|---|
| Source, config and media | Durable reconstruction inputs |
| Customizations, pin and lockfile | Compatible reproducible engine |
| Users, settings, links and icons | Private editor runtime and presentation |
| History and marker | Bounded operational evidence |
| Service, proxy and domain | External operating configuration |
| Prior reader | Known accepted return artifact |
Coordinate saved changes and active publication before a snapshot or service cutover. Do not point a test editor at production account files. Keep restore copies private and check ownership/permissions, not just equality of file text.
Diagnose before repeating
A stale reader can come from unsaved text, saved source without build, local output without deployment or old cache. A missing history event does not prove the underlying operation failed. A publication switch warning can occur after new local output became live.
Record the first relevant failure, selected paths and actual artifact/service state. Preserve recoverable buffers and prior folders. Do not repeatedly restart, reset passwords, delete output or republish until the failed layer is identified. Publish and deployment issues explains stage-specific recovery.
Rehearse, cut over and close
Test recovery in an isolated copy before relying on a procedure. Verify source reconstruction, private accounts as applicable, safe role/request behavior and reader acceptance. Syntax checks of a service/proxy template are not a real production restore.
Before cutover, name what changes and what returns if it fails. Reader-only rollback does not undo newer account changes. Runtime/source restore must coordinate writers and compatible state. After the actual switch, verify home/deep/search/assets/status/perimeter before resuming normal work.
Retain the actual revision, runtime, backup selection, tests, deployment identifier and open limits. The engine has no automated transactional updater, universal host rollback or compliance-grade unlimited history. Your operational process supplies those responsibilities.
